A Bake Sale For Hawaiʻi's Foster Keiki

hui hoomalu - (Thu) February 18, 2016

A partnership of several different Hawaiʻi foster care agencies (Department of Human Services, Catholic Charities Hawaii, Family Programs Hawaii, and Partners In Development Foundation) came together in support of the state’s foster keiki (children) and their families. This is the fouth year that Partners In Development Foundation’s Hui Hoʻomalu program has been annually participating in organizing bake sale events to raise money to help resource caregivers (formerly known as foster parents). The purpose of the bake sale is to raise awareness, seek financial support for events and to recruit more resource caregivers for foster children in Hawaiʻi. All of the money raised from the event will go towards supporting statewide events for Hawaiʻi's resource families and youths in foster care.

The bake sale event takes place each year at the Dole Cannery second floor atrium where many businesses in the building come out to support the keiki. The event has really grown over the years and now also includes a silent auction and rummage sale. Total sales from the event this year generated over $7,000 to support foster families in Hawaiʻi.
